竹炭素有“黑鉆石”的美譽，在國際上被譽為“二十一世紀環保新衛士”。是取毛竹為原料，采用了純氧高溫及氮氣阻隔延時的煅燒新工藝和新技術，使得竹炭天生具有的微孔更細化和蜂窩化，然后再與具有蜂窩狀微孔結構趨勢的聚酯改性切片熔融紡絲而制成的。該纖維最大的與眾不同之處，就是每一根竹炭纖維都呈內外貫穿的蜂窩狀微孔結構。這種獨特的纖維結構設計，能使竹炭所具有的功能100%的發揮出來。將竹子經過800度高溫干燥炭化工藝處理后，形成竹炭。

竹炭的物理化學性質　

　　片炭含水率5%～8%,顆粒炭含水率14%～18%; 固定碳含量85%～88%; 灰分含量2%～4%; 比表面積300～600m2/g; 揮發分6%～8%; 干碳熱值30000～33000kJ/kg: pH值8～9; 氣干密度0.800～1.320/cm3。

竹炭纖維具有的主要性能是：

　　超強的吸附力：竹炭吸附能力是木炭的5倍以上，對甲醛、苯、甲苯、氨等有害物質和粉塵能發揮吸收、分解異味和消臭的作用。例如：普通粘膠纖維的氨去除率只有17.4%，而竹炭粘膠纖維的氨去除率達到54%。
